Northern Clearing, Inc. is a multifaceted company based in Ashland, Wisconsin.

NCI has been a family owned company for more than 40 years with more than 50 full time employees, and up to 300 seasonal employees.

Whether clearing a right-of-way through the dense forest of the upper Midwest, the neck deep swamps of Florida, up and over the Wasatch Range in Utah, building a golf course on the bluffs overlooking Lake Superior, or in the deserts of New Mexico, we strive to maintain the integrity of every project we do. With hundreds of pieces of equipment to choose from and hundreds of skilled and dedicated employees, we are Industry Leaders in completing projects on budget and on time. NCI will continue to update and expand with new equipment, computer technology, safety standards, and a long list of satisfied customers.

Northern Clearing was founded in 1966 by George Vernon, Wayne Vernon, and Bernard Guski. In the 1970s George bought out his partners 'clearing' the way for sons Richard, Todd and Craig who are now the current owners of the company. NCI got its start in clearing transmission line right-of-way for Minnesota Power and Light. It has expanded its client base to pipelines and fiber optic lines. We have worked in 36 States. By 1986 NCI had grown into one of the largest right-of-way clearing contractors in the United States, while diversifying into the right-of-way reclamation, site work, and landfill construction. This along with the expansion of right-of-way reclamation projects led to a full time golf course construction division by 1989. Since that time NCI has built dozens of courses for more than 10 architects in the Midwest, West and Southeast.

With our headquarters located next to Lake Superior, the largest body of freshwater in the world, we understand the need for environmental precautions. Because of our commitment to the environment, we have forged a very positive relationship with many natural, state and private agencies.
