NCI got its start building golf courses near the shores of Lake Superior in the upper Midwest. The severe weather constraints of this region have taught us how to complete projects under adverse conditions. We have become industry leaders at completing our projects on time and on budget. The construction of any golf course project, large or small, requires a team approach between the owners, architect, contractor, subcontractors, permitting agencies, and the public. As a team player we strive to satisfy the project owner b working with them to catch problems before they affect the work schedule or budget. We work hard to make changes within the budget of the project rather than making costly change orders.  As a team player we understand the importance of each architects design philosophy as it relates to the project.  NCI has worked with more than 10 different architectural and design firms in our career.  Whether building a wide municipal layout, an intricate and challenging resort course, or a complete full length championship quality golf course we have the resources to complete the project as envisioned by each architect and owner.

Northern Clearing Inc. has proven itself as one of the few golf course contractors in the nation with the ability to complete all aspects of construction. Each of our projects is assigned a competent project manager and the necessary work crews and equipment to create each architectural vision. We have the ability to do each of the following golf course construction and components.

Clearing and site preparation – Our name says it all! We provide the necessary facilities for each projects construction and clear and grub the site to begin earthmoving. We are industry leaders in various possibilities for the disposal of trees, brush, debris, and old infrastructure.  Don’t start off on the wrong foot.  It is crucial that the beginning of a project start well so that each successive portion can follow.

Erosion Control – Today’s environmental awareness is of foremost concern on each of our projects. We can implement the conditions of any permit required for construction or assist in designing and implementing one.

Mass Grading – We furnish the necessary equipment to move all the topsoil, earth, or rock to shape the golf course as directed by the architect. We have the ability to move very little earth or quantities as large as 1,000,000 cubic yards.

Irrigation and pump station installation – NCI can provide complete irrigation installation. We have installed systems by Toro, Rainbird, and Hunter.  Our staff has dozens of years combined experience installing complete irrigation systems and pump stations for as much as 27 holes or combined with snowmaking systems for ski hills.

Finish Grading and Grassing – We provide the critical experience and knowledge to make your vision a reality. Our experience at building greens, tees, and bunkers will show through. This component is when we match the architect’s vision to the land and surroundings. We also have many years experience seeding and establishing turfgrass as well as native grasses and landscape plantings.

Site Amenities – Our crews can install cart paths, build parking lots, grade clubhouse and infrastructure facilities, and install bridges. There are many facets to a complete project and we are capable of building or assisting in them all.
